Secretary's Message

Promoting Pakistan’s IT industry is PSEB’s core activity. IT companies have largely benefited from PSEB’s marketing initiatives by generating valuable business leads, establishing offices in key foreign locations and signing outsourcing contracts with their foreign counterparts. IT industry has always supported PSEB’s international marketing activities. They have laid emphasis on creating awareness about Pakistan’s IT companies in key international markets, which, in turn, will complement the IT-oriented export revenue, generate new employment opportunities for graduates, and improve Pakistan’s soft image.

Pakistan’s IT industry has indeed done well and due credit goes to the enterprising entrepreneurs and skilled workforce for coming up with creative, imaginative solutions. Over 5000 IT companies, many of which are certified in CMMI, ISO 9001, and ISO 27001 standards are providing software and IT services to many foreign clients. You may find it interesting to note that Pakistan is in Upwork’s top 5 countries, the world’s largest freelancing network, in terms of registered freelancers and revenue. Pakistani IT companies consistently receive recognition at International competitions such as Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technology Awards (APICTA) in different categories including startup, mobile applications, e-learning, e-health, e-government, security, supply chain management, communications, and financial applications. These are no small achievements. There are major challenges ahead and appreciation needs to be provided to our hardworking entrepreneurs and IT Professionals, producing software and solutions, which have achieved international acclaim and recognition.

The Ministry of IT, through Pakistan Software Export Board, continues to support all credible private sector initiatives aimed at bolstering the local IT industry and to attract foreign investment. Government realizes that it has an important role in terms of providing a conducive environment to IT industry through infrastructure and HR development. PSEB has been playing a key role in promoting our IT industry in the past and I hope that it continues to play an even bigger role in the future to take our IT exports to the $10 billion mark by 2025.
