The single biggest obstacle for the Pakistan IT industry is the negative country perception which is not deserved. It is well recognized that capturing the off shoring market for IT/ITES is becoming more challenging with increasing competition among countries and in-country locations to attract investments and unless Pakistan counters its image, it will not attract a significant amount of business.
Promotion of Pakistan’s IT industry is the core activity of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). IT companies have largely benefited from PSEB marketing initiatives by attracting valuable business leads and establishing offices in key foreign locations and signing contracts with their foreign counterparts. World renowned researchers like Gartner, World Bank and McKinsey have continuously endorsed the international marketing activities of PSEB and have laid emphasis on increasing/enhancing the presence of Pakistani IT companies in key international markets which in turn will complement the IT oriented export revenue, generation of employment opportunities and improving soft image of the country.
Libya is a potential market for Pakistani products. Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organizing a Single Country Exhibition in Tripoli, Libya from 7-9 October, 2009. In the exhibition Information Technology, Textiles, Health Care, Oil & Gas and other prominent sectors will be participating. In order to maximize the benefit from emerging opportunities in Libya, PSEB and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) have decided to include an IT pavilion in the Single Country Exhibition.
Member companies are invited to submit their expressions of interest along with the following:
- Objective Statement (explaining: Why do you want to participate in this particular event; what is the estimated total revenue of your company; number of employees and the names of leading clients).
- Demand draft of PKR 15,000 in favor of PSEB (Refundable in case of non-selection and non-refundable in case of withdrawal at any stage after selection).
- Duly filled-in application forms.
- Signed TORs.
