Survey on IT Industry Standardization through International Certifications and Accreditation of PSEB

Pakistan's growing IT sector is facing increased pressure to provide cost effective quality products. Obtaining an international quality certification helped Pakistan's IT companies in wining customer confidence. Companies having International Certification also enjoy an increased sense of legitimacy and global trust.

A few of the IT companies have already achieved these certifications either through PSEB sponsored programs or independently but the cost of each is very high. To bring the IT industry at next level, PSEB is very keen to re-launch its Industry Certification Program. PSEB plans to move for its own accreditation program to ensure the continuity of this program and to drastically decrease the cost for IT companies.

Industry has also expressed the need of an independent software-testing lab in recent meetings with PSEB.  Please provide us some feedback about this initiative too. The options here are to subsidize Pakistani software companies to have their products tested from internationally recognized software labs, or to set up a software testing lab in Pakistan and have these products tested locally. Both these options have their merits and demerits. We would like your opinion on which option would be the most relevant and beneficial for the Pakistani software industry.

We are in process of evaluating the real need of the industry and to get the first hand knowledge to select the most relevant certifications as well. Please send us reply of the following questions.

1. Please answer the following questions (ranking between 1 to 5, where 5 is most desired and 1 is least desired):
